Hafiza Asmal (b. 1993, Benoni) is a Linguist and Visual Artist. She majored in Linguistics, Psychology and South African Sign Language at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she has also holds a Professional Fine Art degree.
She is pursuing her masters at EDHEA in Switzerland and is currently based in Sierre.

Being a CODA she includes a highly personal reflection of sign language as her home language to raise questions on her mind. She is interested in how materiality can be altered and understood through discourses of being.
Drawn to narrative, her work presents a fragmented collection of found forms that have been processed and re-purposed. To emphasises what she perceives to be an overload of information in today's society.
